About Us

Hamma & Bampa… wait… what’s that? That is what our granddaughter calls us. When she started talking, she couldn’t say Grandma and Grandpa. So we became Hamma & Bampa. We are retired Military and retired Federal Service. TLC is family owned and run, with over 25 years of experience working with children.

We believe now is the time to get back to the basics and play. Research indicates that children learn best in an environment, which allows them to explore, discover, and play. Play is an important part of a developmentally appropriate childcare program. It is also closely tied to the development of cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical behaviors.

You may ask what exactly does it mean to play and why is play so important for young children? Play enhances language development, social competence, creativity, imagination, and thinking skills. When children play, they draw on their past experiences-things they have done, seen others do, read about, or seen on television-and they use these experiences to build games, play scenarios, and engage in activities.

At TLC, we have an open concept design facility that inspires a nurturing, interactive, and collaborative environment in which your child can explore, discover and play. We know how precious your child is and when you come to TLC, you become family and are treated as family.

We have several goals for children.

~ to be competent and confident in their abilities
~ to be self-directed in a constructive, creative manner
~ to be successful in future educational experiences
~ to develop a love for learning and the ability to know how to learn
~ to develop self-control and a sense of right and wrong
~ to feel good about who they are
~ to learn cooperation with other children as well as adults
~ to reach their full potential in emotional, intellectual, physical and social development
